THE FISHING
When fishing the legendary waters of Lake Creek, it is hard to believe that you are only 70 miles from Alaska's largest city. Riversong Lodge caters to the experienced and novice fishermen alike with a fishing program that focuses on the quality of the total experience; a combination of excellent catching opportunities and beautiful scenery. The lodge has an excellent guide staff, all of whom are Coast Guard certified and proficient with both conventional and fly tackle. They know the waters and the fishing, and they take great pride and pleasure in teaching you the skills to master them.
The lodge is located on the banks of the Yentna River, directly across from the confluence of the “home waters” of Lake Creek. This allows you quick and easy access to great fishing water within minutes of leaving the dock. Lake Creek is a swift flowing, clear, gravel-bottomed river originating out of the Alaska Range to our north. It is home to all five species of Pacific salmon (king, sockeye, pink, silver and chum,) as well as rainbow trout and arctic grayling. In addition, the lodge offers opportunities for northern pike in other local waters. Riversong Lodge can easily arrange daily fly-out fishing excursions - by floatplane- to favorite neighboring rivers. And, if you are truly after a unique remote Alaskan experience, they can fly you from the lodge, by helicopter, to some difficult-to-reach untouched waters.
BOATS AND EQUIPMENT OFFERED
The lodge utilizes aluminum jet boats to access area waters and rivers. The lodge also offers clients complimentary use of all fishing equipment and waders.
THE LODGING
Riversong Lodge was hand-built from native white spruce logs and offers rustic riverside comfort in the classic Alaskan tradition. Overall, the atmosphere is extremely comfortable and relaxed. The main lodge serves as a gathering place for meals, entertaining, activities and relaxation, and its rustic construction, spacious decks, inviting living room, and full service "Angler's Bar" all provide exceptional comfort deep in the Alaskan wilderness. Ten guest cabins surround the main lodge, all facing the Yentna River and Mt. McKinley. Currently, six cabins have a private bath and four cabins share a central shower house. There is also a wood-heated sauna for guest use. Each cabin is assigned a housekeeper that will take care of the daily cleaning. The owners and staff of Riversong take great pride in the lodge grounds, and herb and flower gardens are everywhere! With Alaska’s vibrant growing season, Riversong’s flowers roar into bloom each June, and throughout the summer there is a constant parade of new colors as the lodge's plantings spring to life.
Riversong Lodge has a tradition of award-winning cuisine. Here at Yellow Dog, we can tell you that WITHOUT EXCEPTION they have the best food and finest menu that we have found anywhere in Alaska! The lodge's handpicked chefs have extensive culinary experience and are committed to presenting the finest dining experience possible. Meals are served from one daily menu, and overnight guests enjoy hors d’oeuvres at 6:00 PM at the bar just prior to dinner. Guests dine together in the dining area, and Riversong offers a wide selection of fine wines and premium beer on tap.
