Trip Overview

Nestled amongst the citrus shores of central Belize, the Belize Permit Club has everything for the hardcore permit angler. Conveniently located just south of the small fishing village of Hopkins, permit fanatic Wil Flack has built the house to host anglers in the pursuit of saltwater's holy grail species – the permit. As owner of the Tres Pescados Fly Shop in San Pedro, with decades of experience chasing fish and outfitting in Belizean waters, Wil and his team have the knowledge and tools to get the job done. You won't find fancy pillows or scented soaps here. What you will find is a fly fishing program solely dedicated to the most famous of saltwater flats fish. Belize Permit Club provides clean comfortable lodging and home cooked meals, but more importantly a team of individuals and guides passionate about one thing only... permit on the fly!

FISHING

General Information
For those wanting to focus specifically on permit on the fly, then the waters of Southern Belize are arguably the finest in saltwater fishing. While other species are found throughout the area, it should be understood that the fishing in the Hopkins area and the South Water Caye Marine Reserve is focused completely on permit. This means that as a stand-alone trip, this trip may not be for everyone – unless of course, you’re someone who really wants shots at permit on the fly! There are hundreds of prime permit flats in the area, many less than thirty minutes from the lodge. This is permit fishing in the traditional sense - you are looking for fish on the flats and tailing fish in skinny water.

Boats and Equipment
The Belize Permit Club fish from extremely light, custom 23-foot pangas. These boats are ideal for poling the flats and running over open water. All the boats have poling platforms and are designed for fly fishing, with spacious casting decks and clean interiors. Belize Permit Club has loaner rods and reels available for guests that need them.  However, we encourage anglers to bring their own gear that they know and are comfortable with.  Flies, leaders, tippet, and other terminal tackle are provided if necessary.

OTHER INFO

Just wanted to say a big thanks to you and your team in Hopkins , Michael a top guide,  young Daniel for all his hard work cleaning the boats and keeping the Lodge spotless and Mindy for keeping us well fed.  And yourself for all your leg work and hosting us and the great lodge you have set up down in Hopkins, super comfortable at the end of a long day chasing Permit on the most perfect flats and cleanest water in Belize.  It was amazing how many tails we came across and this enabled Chris and myself to get the job done and cradle one of the toughest fish to catch on fly.  Can't wait to fish again.
