Alaska’s Tordrillo Mountain Lodge sits at the outlet of Talachulitna River at Judd Lake giving guests the perfect basecamp to take advantage of the area’s terrific fisheries. Even though there are numerous lodges to choose from in Alaska, something that sets Tordrillo apart is their use of helicopters. Tordrillo utilizes helicopters transport anglers into remote rivers and streams that otherwise wouldn’t be accessible.
It’s on these remote waters that anglers can catch all five species of pacific salmon, rainbow trout, Arctic char, and grayling. And in almost two decades of taking anglers to these remote fisheries it’s a rarity to see another fisherman- you’ll be hard-pressed to see another soul in this wilderness and will revel in having the whole river to yourself.
The second advantage to using a helicopter is the mobility it grants to the angler. If for whatever reason the fishing is not good in the first spot of choosing, it’s as easy as loading back up in the helicopter and flying to a different river or drainage.
For non-anglers in the group the lodge offers an array of different options. If skiing is your sport you will want to take advantage of the Tordrillo’s heli-ski program and for the river rats in the group, single day and overnight rafting, canoeing, and stand up paddle boarding trips can be arranged. Or if you’re the more naturalistic type, the area’s abundance of wildlife and bird watching is sure to keep any die-hard entertained. Whatever you choose to do at the end of each day adventuring be sure to relax in the lodge’s Alaskan style hot tub and sauna, or simply indulge in one of the massage services the lodge offers. Tordrillo Mountain Lodge truly has something for everyone in the family.
Between Tordrillo’s team of professional and knowledgeable guides and the lodge’s world-class accommodations you’ll be hard pressed to find a more all encompassing experience.
