As the fall season creeps into the US and with winter just around the corner, the thought of cold, short days comes to mind. In your quest for year-round fly fishing, luckily, summer is just around the corner in the trout-rich waters of Central Patagonia’s Rio Pico and Esquel/Trevelin region. The season kicks off in November so take advantage of early season specials and primetime fishing dates available at Patagonia River Guides’ two signature lodges. So leave winter behind for a while and enjoy some epic Patagonian summer fishing.
Patagonia River Guides offers arguably the most complete, comprehensive, high-end, and professional fishing operation in all of Patagonia. These two lodges offer first-class accommodations, the best in Malbec wines and gourmet cuisine, and an endless frontier of incredible fly fishing.
This lodge offers incredible fishing diversity amongst inspiring mountain valleys and steppes. This is the gateway to Los Alerces National Park and to the Southern Andes Mountains. The area has many creeks, lakes, and rivers, all of which contain excellent numbers of trout. There are also endless options for non-anglers, including winemaking activities at PRG’s stunning Contra Corriente vineyard and winery. The lodge consists of 12 spacious, tastefully appointed bedrooms, each with private ensuite baths and all the comforts one would expect in a five-star facility.

The Rio Pico area is located three hours south of Esquel and offers anglers the chance to explore a very remote and untouched fishery. This region offers you an opportunity to catch large fish and enjoy a part of Patagonia that sees very little tourism. The region is mostly known for its high desert lakes stacked full of large rainbows and browns. Tres Valles Lodge offers guests first-class accommodation, excellent service, and fine meals. This is a beautiful mountain lodge offering four spacious double suites each with private baths and private deck overlooking the spectacular Desnudo Mountain.
