The Tourism Authority of Kiribati (TAK) recently announced the Kiribati government’s decision to reopen national borders beginning in January of 2022. This is HUGE news for fly fishing destination anglers. Christmas Island has been closed since February of 2020 – thus, the fishery will have been rested for nearly two years.
TAK is currently undergoing numerous COVID safety training and implementing new protocols through their new Tourism Restart Program. Further details regarding traveler requirements will soon become available from Kiribati’s government for the January 2022 reopening.
Fiji Air has not yet reacted or made a statement to this recent announcement today (September 15th, 2021).
