The fishing reports that we have been receiving from Cuba over the past few weeks have been phenomenal. At the moment, Cuba most likely offers the most unpressured fishery in the entire Caribbean. The country has been closed since the start of the pandemic but is planning to reopen international travel on November 15th, 2021. The islands and flats of Cuba arguably offer some of the finest tarpon, permit, bonefish, and snook fishing on the planet! We are thrilled to return to this top-tier and well-rested fishery in 2022.
If you’re interested in booking a trip to Cuba, you are required to go with or must already have a group of anglers ready to book. In addition, Avalon recently discounted their full yacht and half yacht bookings for the start of prime tarpon season (April-May). Contact us today for more details!
Cayo Largo: A fishery that has become known as the permit capital of Cuba! Situated in the south-central region of the Cuban Archipelago, Cayo Largo (“Long Key”) is one of the finest permit fishing destinations that we have found anywhere in the Caribbean. The island itself offers 17 miles of picture-perfect, white sandy beaches. Upon arrival, you will be surprised to find a natural flats environment that has remained totally unchanged and largely untouched for hundreds of years. The incredible Cayo Largo fishery came under the management of Avalon Fishing Centers in 2008 and has since developed into a fantastic permit and bonefish destination (with some tarpon in the area as well). The fishing season runs from November through August.
