EL PESCADOR, BELIZE | CLIENT REPORT

El Pescador Lodge, in business for over 40 years, is one of the best-run, most famous fly fishing lodges in all of Central America. Situated on Ambergris Caye (an island only 15 minutes by light aircraft from Belize City), the lodge offers world-class sight fishing for the “Big Three”: tarpon, permit and bonefish. It is the perfect destination for first-time saltwater anglers, seasoned veterans, couples and families. We recently had a report sent in from a client who had a fantastic trip to El Pescador lodge. Take a look.

Jim,

Here are a few shots from the Belize fly fishing trip. This trip was an eye-opening and life changing experience for me. After only being on salt water a couple times back home on the Texas Coast I wasn’t sure what to expect. Never having caught a saltwater species, I honestly went into this trip simply hoping I could get shots at fish. However this trip quickly turned into much more.

The first day I was able to land my first bone and tarpon. My bud Alec was able to do the same, landing his tarpon from the same school as mine. Two more windy days went by without a fish in the boat. Finally on the third day, probably the windiest day by far, we were able to jump on a huge school of permit. With only an hour or so left in our day, we immediately dropped the anchor and started wading out to the school. A couple false casts and on the first drop, Alec hooked into his first permit. Scrambling like a madman I followed the school and started casting. BOOM! I had on my first permit. Within the last hours of our trip Alec and I had both doubled up on Permit.

After experiencing a bonefish, tarpon, and permit essentially on my first saltwater trip I simply felt fortunate and overwhelmed. This trip left me with the greatest respect for these fish, and an urge I have never felt before. I am already chomping at the bit to get back. I appreciate all the help Jim, and the yellow dog experience was as good as it gets.

Many Thanks, Sled Allen
