Belizean Prime Minister Dean Barrow officially announced that Phillip Goldson International Airport will reopen for international tourist travel on August 15, 2020. The country of Belize has carefully considered reopening options and decided that August 15 will allow for additional time to fine-tune infrastructure to ensure the safety of international travelers and Belizean citizens. At this time, Belize has very few reported Coronavirus cases and taking all precautions needed for a safe reopening. All active cases stem from a repatriation effort and were immediately quarantined upon return to Belize.
Moving forward, all travelers will be required to download and utilize the free “Belize Health App,” which is still in development, and complete all information before to streamline the entry process. All accommodations will need to be booked before the time of travel to a property that obtains the Gold Standard Certification for sanitation and cleanliness. We are confident that all of our favorite fishing and lodging operations with which we work will be able to meet these high standards!
Travelers will also need to produce a negative COVID-19 PCR test within 72 hours of travel to Belize for entry through a proposed “fast track” lane.
