After chasing a dream for over 18 years, Chocolate Lab Expeditions owner Ron Sorensen and Head Guide, Diego Gaiser, opened up the Limay River Ranch for operation in January of 2022. These pioneers on the middle Limay provide clients 36 miles of private access to this dynamic tailwater, which boasts some of the highest growth rates for trout of any river in Patagonia. Crystal clear water, often prolific hatches, exceptionally hard fighting rainbows, and monster brown trout are the defining keystones of the Limay experience. The lodge consists of six spacious well-appointed cabins and a main lodge for after-fishing drinks, stories, and all meals. They have one of the most experienced guide staff on the river and offer a brand new fleet of RO drift boats every season.

“As we all know, access is a privilege and an advantage when fishing. The Limay River Ranch provides over 30 miles of private access to one of the most diverse fisheries in all of Patagonia. This new lodge has built over twenty miles of private roads within the Estancia so its guests may fish how they desire – whether fishing hard all day with a long float or breaking up the day to have lunch back at the lodge followed by a siesta. The Limay River offers strong numbers of rainbow trout that may be targeted in the riffles and buckets with nymphs and dry flies any time of day.
Finicky, large migratory browns hold in the deeper runs pretty much any time of year but especially later in the season. The long-time guide staff are total professionals and excellent instructors. The newly built accommodations are spacious with clean lines and are highly functional. The main lodge offers numerous social gathering spots with meals that will tantalize your taste buds. Solar energy with an impressive battery storage system is the main source of power and a generator is available to run AC units in the rooms and lodge.”
