RANDOM ACT | FIRST DAY, FIRST CLENT & FIRST BIG TROUT OF THE SEASON!
Client Photo Mark Sheivachman at Martin Pescador Lodge, Chile | The very first day of the trip and the first client of the year on Lago Yelcho in Chile with Martin Pescador and Mark Sheivachman scores, BIG! Mark was targeting large fish on dragonfly dries along the weed edges. When fish get on dragonflies they eat the naturals in the air by leaping 2 to 3 feet out of the water. When it gets going you can have dozens of big fish blowing up all around you. You need 10 lb. maxima tippet and a 3-inch long dragonfly pattern to get it done. Mark still has another 5 days of fishing with Martin Pescador….!!
Río Yelcho and Lago Yelcho
Together, this river and lake encompass the home waters for Martin Pescador’s Puerto Cardenas Lodge. The Río Yelcho offers great fishing. Large rainbows cruise the surface, allowing you to sight fish with very small flies (the average size being 18 to 22). Lago Yelcho can offer fabulous fishing around the reed fields, where large brown and rainbow trout are found cruising and feeding aggressively on large dragon flies and damsels. At 38 miles long, this is the largest lake fished in Martin Pescador’s program.
