Trip Report: Cook Islands Serve Up Large and Plentiful Bonefish. Picture Heavy Post.

January 23, 2020

Yellow Dog anglers William and Kimberly L. recently returned from a trip to Aitutaki in the Cook Islands. The two enjoyed the unique fishery of the Cook Islands. They experienced some stellar success in their quest for big bonefish.

“The people, the fish, and the accommodations exceeded all expectations,” said the couple.

“To read about the size of the bonefish that frequent the atoll can cause one’s imagination to get carried away,” they continued,  “but when you then see fish that still leave you speechless, you know you are in a very special fishery.”

We’ve known for years the special nature here—the world record length fish was landed here in 2016. But it is always nice to hear from our traveling anglers that are fly fishing in the Cook Islands.

“Once again you all at YD had us dialed in, and we are very appreciative for all of your insight and assistance. Thanks! -K&W”

Thanks for booking with Yellow Dog and sending us pictures from your trip.
