Update as of April 7th, 2022: We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who donated to Mike Ledezma’s GoFundMe and/or helped raise awareness. The winner of the Thomas & Thomas Sextant saltwater fly rod is Alan from Florida who has decided to donate the value of the rod toward Mike’s GoFundMe.
Through all of your generous donations, we have been able to collectively raise over $65,000 within a few weeks, which will put a major dent in Mike’s medical bills. Mike obviously has a very tough battle in front of him, but he wanted to let everyone know that “there are no words to describe how much this means.”
With that said, we still are accepting donations to help Mike and plan to keep everyone updated on his condition!
We have a special project and unique request that we are sharing with friends of Yellow Dog, and we hope that you will take a moment to participate and help a good friend that has meant so much to the fly fishing industry and to our sport. AND … best of all, by assisting with this project, you stand a great chance to win an incredible saltwater rod (valued at over $1000) just by contributing to a worthy cause.
What: Make a donation of $25.00 for a single entry, or up to $250 for ten entries, for the chance to be the winner of the all-new Thomas & Thomas Sextant Saltwater Fly Rod!
When: Donation entries are valid from March 29-April 5th, 2022***
When Will We Select Winners?: Wednesday, April 6th, 2022
Why Make a Donation?: Our dear friend Mike Ledezma – long-time manager of Grand Slam Lodge and formerly with Casa Blanca and Playa Blanca – has been diagnosed with an extremely rare form of cancer called chondrosarcoma. Mike’s insurance, unfortunately, does not cover his costly treatments. Mike is a pillar in the fly fishing industry and his community. He has helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars which directly aided Punta Allen. And for the past twenty years, he has been a cornerstone for countless memories for hundreds of anglers.
Not only will you have a chance to win the all-new Thomas & Thomas Sextant fly rod, but your money will go straight to helping a fellow angler in need. We are 1/4 of the way to our GoFundMe goal of $100,000 for Mike and his family. The fly fishing community has always stepped up to help one of our own in need, and with your help, we can meet our goal in the days ahead.
*** If you have already donated as of March 29th, 2022, you will automatically be rewarded your entries of up to ten per person
