YELLOW DOG FLYFISHING’S JIM KLUG ADDRESSES WHY WE CARE

Yellow Dog’s own Jim Klug was featured on August 21 in the Why We Care news, a monthly newsletter which explores how fly fishing professionals were introduced to the sport, how they got into the industry, and why they care about fly fishing’s future and the importance of river conservation and protecting resources.

“I grew up in central Oregon, where I learned to fly fish at a young age from a neighbor who was a long-time outfitter on the Deschutes. I began working in a fly shop when I was 15, and before long I was running gear boats and eventually guiding on area rivers.

In 2000, I left my sales manager job with Scientific Anglers to launch Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventures. I have been fortunate to figure out a way to make a living doing something I love – traveling the world, visiting beautiful places, meeting incredible people, and occasionally catching a few fish.

I know that the future of Yellow Dog and the fly fishing industry in general depend on clean water, healthy resources, continued access, and the efforts of those who are willing to fight for these things. You just can’t have a successful business directly related to fly fishing without a strong ethos of protection.

We care because this is what we do and what we love.”
