Considered by many anglers to be the finest saltwater flats fly fishing in the world, the shallow waters of the Seychelles offer unbelievable wading and amazing fly fishing opportunities for an incredible number of unique and different species.

When you take into account the sheer diversity of fish species found throughout the outer Seychellois islands and combine that factor with seclusion, epic scenery, and consistent fishing action, you end up with an overall fishery that is truly unlike any other found on the planet.

Fly Fishing the Seychelles

Throughout these area waters you will find bonefish in extraordinary numbers, several different types of trevally, milkfish, triggerfish, bumphead parrotfish, permit, and dozens of other reef and flats species. As for the incredible Giant Trevally action that is found throughout the islands, we can confidently say that there is nothing else that compares in the entire world of fly fishing.

Bumphead parrotfish

Compared to the Caribbean or the Bahamas, the Seychelles are by no means a quick and easy place to access. What you find upon arrival, however, are pristine ecosystems that are essentially untouched by any development, traffic, or angling pressure. When fly fishing in the Seychelles, you may feel as if you are the first person to set foot on a particular flat, and in this part of the world, that may very well be the case!

Diversity of Fish

One of the several operations Yellow Dog proudly works with, Alphonse Fishing Co., shared their fishing report from the 2017 season.  Due to conservation efforts made by the Alphonse Foundation and Island Conservation Society, in addition to a limited number of rods (reducing the angling pressure), and non-harmful catch and release tactics, the number of fish may astound you:

12,662 Bonefish

1,612 Giant Trevally

1,245 Bluefin Trevally

139 Giant Triggerfish

93 Yellow Margin Triggerfish

95 Milkfish

66 Sailfish

65 Indo-Pacific Permit

Numerous Barracuda, Grouper, Snapper

In addition to Alphonse Fishing Co., Yellow Dog works with and represents several operations throughout the region, including Alphonse Island Resort, Farquhar Atoll, Providence, Cosmoledo, and Astove Island.  All of the destinations are outlined in detail on the Yellow Dog website, where each page provides information on the fisheries, accommodations and amenities, species found in the immediate area, transfer and travel details, information on equipment and tackle, complete rates, dozens of photos, and more.
