General Information
Great Alaska Adventure Lodge is permitted to fish the refuge trout waters of the Upper Kenai. This area is one of the most spectacular trout fisheries in the state; catching and releasing 20 trout or char weighing up to 10 pounds in a single day is not uncommon! The Lodge also fishes other options within the area, including the Kasilof River, Anchor, Deep Creek and many others. During your stay, you will have the option to fish multiple scenarios depending on your preferences.

One thing that makes Great Alaska Adventure Lodge totally unique is the phenomenal "home water" fishing situation. They offer what they call the "evening beach fishing program" directly in front of the Lodge. This beach, stretching from the guest cabins to the water, boasts five world records - possibly more than any other single run in Alaska! Each evening, one of the guides is there to assist with evening fishing and offer instruction and assistance in landing fish. This is a huge bonus, as the home water option allows guests to fish immediately upon arrival and right up until an hour before departure! Evening fishing hours during your stay are almost unlimited.

Boats and Equipment

Equipment used at the lodge includes a variety of 20-foot River Sled jet boats, drift boats, and airplanes. While spin fishing and conventional tackle is included in all packages, fly fishing gear and equipment is not. It is recommended that fly anglers bring their own gear and equipment. The Lodge does have a large amount of spinning and conventional gear on hand for guest use.

How To Get There
Your trip starts upon arrival into Anchorage's Ted Stevens International Airport (ANC). Several major airlines serve Alaska from the Lower 48 with connections directly to Anchorage. From there, you have the option to drive to the Lodge down along the Cook Inlet and Kenai Peninsula, or take a quick flight to Kenai. Please discuss details with Yellow Dog.

Arrival and Departure Details / Times
Getting to the Lodge is easy. You will be picked up in Anchorage early in the morning and then driven a scenic two-hour trip, which will get you to the Lodge in plenty of time to check-in, receive a quick orientation and lunch, and fishing for the rest of the day. On arrival day, your transfer from Anchorage to the Lodge is included in the overall package price. On your departure day, the transfer and return back to Anchorage is NOT included, and guests have the option of a shuttle commuter flight or a float plane from in front of their cabin for additional charges.

Documents Required
Photo identification is required by airlines and to purchase your Alaska Fishing License. Licenses can be purchased at the lodge, or online prior to your trip, by visiting this website: Alaska Department of Fish and Game.

Client Testimonials

“I spent 4 day's fishing with a new location each day and landed over 250 fish (Rainbows, Dolly Varden, Steelhead, Silvers, and of course Pinks) including the biggest Rainbow I've ever caught. 33.5 inches and a girth of 19.5 inches, estimated weight of about 18 - 20 pounds....WOW! Great Alaska's hospitality was absolutely the best. Our guide was a rock star when it came to knowledge of the rivers and sounding area. Can't wait for my return visit. Thanks for making this trip one to remember and for the record books!”
