Trip Overview

Andros Island’s Charlie Neymour is one of the finest, most in-demand guides in the Bahamas. And we can tell you: when you’re fishing the waters of Andros, Charlie and his hand-picked team of seasoned guides are the guys you want to be fishing with! Whether fishing the nearby wilderness of Andros’ North Bight, or the remote West Side waters, where bonefish reach world-class size, this is a guide team that continuously delivers. In 2009, Charlie and his wife Fatiha moved their operation from their old location in Behring Point to a new facility in the town of Cargill Creek. The new guesthouse is located on the banks of Cargill Creek and can accommodate up to eight guests at a time. Each room is equipped with air conditioning, a small refrigerator, television, and a private bathroom. The new dining room and bar area sits adjacent to a large patio, and both offer waterfront views of the creek.

Lodging Details
Charlie’s guesthouse facility - built in January of 2009 - is located on Andros’ Northern Bight directly on the banks of Cargill Creek. In fact, the house is located in what can best be described as a "guide neighborhood, " and the property is surrounded by a handful of other homes, all of which belong to Andros guides! Charlie’s small, intimate guesthouse can accommodate up to eight anglers at a time. Larger groups can be accommodated by "overflowing" across the street into Frankie Neymour's small two-bedroom guesthouse (Frankie is Charlie's brother.). At Big Charlie's, each room is equipped with comfortable double beds, air conditioning, a refrigerator, and a private bathroom. The bar area and dining room both sit adjacent to a large patio area that overlooks the waters of Cargill Creek.
Food and Beverages
Big Charlie's offers excellent Bahamian dishes, as well as a variety of cuisines from around the world. Many specialties come from the Mediterranean--authentic Morocco cuisine prepared by Charlie’s wife, Fatiha Neymour. With a large group of in-house guests, it is a tradition to have a goodbye banquet and party on the final night. You can expect fabulous food, fun, and occasionally some late-night dancing. The Lodge maintains a well-stocked bar in the dining room, with a great selection of liquors, wines, mixers and cold beer.
Typical Length of Stay
Trips and packages of any length can be arranged, although the most common package at Big Charlie's is seven (7) nights / six (6) fishing days. Call Yellow Dog for details.
Non-Angling Activities and Options
Aside from fishing, visitors to Big Charlie’s and Andros can enjoy exploring, historical sightseeing, swimming in the area’s blue holes, snorkeling, bird watching, and visiting local towns and villages.
Internet / Communications
The Lodge offers Wi-Fi for guests. U.S. cell phones may work in the Cargill Creek area as well.
General Information

Andros Island, located approximately 150 miles east of the Florida Keys, is one of the top bonefish destinations in the world. Big Charlie’s Lodge is located in proximity to a vast wilderness fishing area filled with flats, creeks, cayes, cuts, and mangroves – collectively some of the best bonefish habitat in the world. Whether you’re a first-time saltwater flats fisherman or a seasoned angler looking for a trophy bonefish, Andros Island is a place that you must visit and fish.
For first-time saltwater fly fishers or intermediate anglers looking to improve, Andros offers enormous numbers of bonefish that will readily take a fly. Anglers new to fishing for bones can focus on areas of the island in which they can fine-tune their skills on large numbers of small to medium-sized fish. Andros may also be the best island in the Bahamas – if not the best in the world – for those seeking BIG bonefish. If you are looking for big fish, then Andros is your place, and Charlie's Lodge is your spot.
One of the main draws for anglers visiting Andros is the uninhabited West Side of the island. Substantial portions of unexplored territory remain on the West Side, and the fish here are rarely pressured. This equates to a large population of untouched fish, many of which reach world-class size. This side of the island is acknowledged as one of the premier “trophy bonefish” areas in the world. It is also one of the top destinations in the Bahamas for tarpon and permit.
Charlie and his guides are tarpon and permit fanatics and maybe the best guides in the Bahamas for those anglers interested in pursuing the Silver King. A boat ride from Big Charlie’s Lodge to the West Side will average one hour to one hour and twenty minutes.
Boats and Equipment
Anglers fish from Maverick and Dolphin skiffs, complete with poling platforms, 90 HP Yamaha outboards, long-range VHS radios, and spacious casting decks. It is recommended that anglers bring their gear and equipment, including rods, reels, wading boots, flies and all terminal tackle.
How To Get There
Most travel to Andros Island should route through Nassau International Airport (NAS) due to the frequent flights and reasonable costs. Whether flying into San Andros (Western Air), Andros Town-Fresh Creek (LeAir), Mangrove Cay (Flamingo and LeAir) or Congo Town (Western Air), there are two flights daily into every small airport on Andros. The first flight is typically early in the morning (approximately 6:30 AM) and second is usually scheduled for later in the afternoon (approximately 3:30 PM). We always suggest a buffer of at least two hours between all arriving flights and departing connecting flights while in Nassau. Charter flights from Florida to Andros can also be arranged. Contact Yellow Dog for more information.

Arrival and Departure Details / Times

Once you arrive on Andros, any taxi at the airport can transport you to the Lodge. The cost is around $50.00, each way. Half-day guide trips are available on arrival and departure days if time allows. On departure day, half-days work great if you're flying on an afternoon flight. Make sure to leave ample time for connecting flights on your return trip, due to customs and immigration. We recommend at least 1.5 hours to deal with departure and immigration procedures. Private air charters can be arranged by contacting Yellow Dog.
Documents Required
All U.S. citizens are required to have a valid passport that does not expire within six (6) months of trips dates. Please be sure that your passport has at least two blanks, unstamped pages remaining in the back, and that it is not torn, delaminated, or damaged in any way.

Client Testimonials
“My dad and I enjoyed the stay at the new lodge. We enjoyed the hospitality, fine food, and the great fishing. The camping trip was spectacular and allowed for perfect staging for tarpon fishing. We are looking forward to coming back!"
- Steve and Jack D.

“I've meant to call and thank you. We had a wonderful time. Charlie was a great guide, pretty perfect, helpful and intense without being critical. We caught many, many fish and I loved the place. My son had a great time. Our only problem was sitting in the airport for six hours for each leg of the trip. If I go again, I'd like to figure out a way to get there sooner and leave easier too without waiting all day for a plane. I will send along some pictures soon. Thank you very much. We will call again.”

- Steven
"Thank you all for the expert advice and the best flats fishing in the world!"
- Jim Orthwen

"I want to thank you for the wonderful hospitality during our recent trip to Big Charlie's Bonefish Lodge. My son and I had a great time and learned an unbelievable amount about what it takes to catch bonefish — What a blast! Just as good was the wonderful food and hospitality — we felt like we were part of the family for the five days we were there. Thanks again for everything and we look forward to a return visit next year with the entire family."

- Scott and Will H.
