Los Ombues’s lodge is perched on a bluff overlooking 40,000 acres of prime bird hunting land in the rich floodplain of the Parana River. The property is home to 20 million eared doves that roost in native woodlands, incredible numbers of ducks that inhabit marshes, and perdiz (partridge) that reside in the native grasslands.
The lodge is a beautiful 12,000 sq. ft red brick and yellow stucco building constructed in the authentic Argentine style. The lounge and dining room look out across an endless expanse of the Delta and the viewer may see half a dozen blinds just a little over half a mile away through the panoramic windows.
Carlos Sanchez built the lodge for bird hunting and everything about it reflects his passion for the sport and an understanding of what makes a high quality shooting experience. Dove and duck hunts are on the property and very close to the lodge. Every bit of equipment – vehicles, boats, rental guns – is perfectly maintained, and the staff is organized to keep things running smoothly.
The lodge includes nine spacious double rooms with private bathrooms, a heated mudroom for boots, waders, and clothing, a gun cleaning room, large dining room, state-of-the-art kitchen, and a large living room with comfortable chairs and sofas surrounding the fire place. Mounted ducks and sporting art decorate the walls creating an enjoyable atmosphere. The lodge also provides wireless internet service throughout the building as well as a complimentary cordless phone that is available for every guest.

Dove season is year-round, and duck / perdiz season runs from May 1st to the third Saturday of August. Every pair of guests will be accompanied and assisted by a seasoned guide who loads shot guns for doves, counts successful shots, calls and picks up ducks in the blinds or handles pointer dogs for partridge shooting. Los Ombues has over 50 shotguns in their gun library for guests to use, including brands such as Beretta, Benelli, Browning and Winchester. Side by sides, over and unders, and auto loaders, ranging from .410 to 12 gauge are available for daily rentals. The eared dove is the primary reason shooters visit Argentina, as the doves are so numerous that the local farmers consider them pests. Approximately 20 million dove inhabit the area around Los Ombues. The birds challenge shooters of all skill levels. Beginners will enjoy the incredible number of shots, while advanced shooters can pick and choose their shots opting to take only the most difficult shots or practice their most challenging swings. Non-Stop dove shooting can be had throughout the day but the early morning and late afternoon / evening hours are best. There are no limits on doves in Argentina, and the season is open year-round. Skilled shooters should expect to shoot 3-5 cases of shells each day.
Boats and Equipment
For the dove or perdiz hunts, hunters are transported to and from the field with 4x4 vehicles. For all duck hunts, hunters will be transported to the blinds with the use of one of the eight John boats with Go-devil and outboard engines providing quick access to the marsh blinds. For convenience and safety, every car, boat and guide has a VHF two-way radio for immediate contact with the lodge.
