- We provide you with direct communication with the outfitter or guide to set up a guided fishing trip through our Day Trip program. All communication will be done directly with the outfitter or guide unless stated otherwise.
- Yellow Dog is entirely hands-off in our day trip program, providing the Yellow Dog approved outfitters and guides with referrals and client information.

You will fill out a short form that will generate an action email that goes directly to the outfitter. The guide will in turn reply to you via email or phone. Please allow the outfitter or guide some time to respond to you, as they may be on the water or out of cell coverage during normal fishing and business hours.

Accommodations are not included with these Fly Fishing Day Trips basing out of West Yellowstone and Big Sky, Montana. For travelers planning to overnight in the area, we can recommend some local hotel, resort, or guest ranch options across many budgets and with various amenities.
Food and Beverages
Your guide will provide a packed cooler with lunch and assorted beverages, including water. Beer and alcohol are not included. Lunches are often had stream-side with tables and chairs or enjoyed while sitting in the boat enjoying the scenery.
Typical Length of Fishing Day
The standard fishing day is six to eight hours long, with most guides amenable to varying times to suit your needs. Typical days have you departing between 7 and 8 AM and returning between 4 and 6 PM.
Where To Meet Your Guide

How To Get There
The fly fishing around West Yellowstone and Big Sky, Montana is very easily accessible. Within an hour’s drive from the hotels, guest ranches, and lodges near West Yellowstone and Big Sky, Montana, dozens of guided fishing trips exists—from walk and wade trips on the Gallatin River to float trips on the Upper Madison and Henry’s Fork Rivers.
West Yellowstone and Big Sky, Montana are best serviced by flying into West Yellowstone airport with its new summer schedule or flying into nearby Bozeman-Yellowstone international airport via Alaska, Allegiant, American, Delta, and United. Located less than two hours from Yellowstone National Park and a day’s drive from Glacier National Park, Bozeman is a popular Montana vacation destination. Jackson, Wyoming is also nearby and accessible via an easy half-days drive through scenic Grand Teton National Park.

Package Rates
Remember that Yellow Dog’s services are completely free! When you book a trip with Yellow Dog, you never pay more than when you book directly with the lodge or outfitter. All prices listed below are quoted in US dollars.
Full-Day Trip (1 or 2 anglers) = $500 – $600
What’s Included:
- Full day of guided fishing for either one or two anglers
- A packed cooler lunch and bottled water
- All necessary equipment, flies, and tackle
- All applicable taxes
What’s Not Included:
- Beer and alcohol
- Fishing license for each angler
- Gratuities for the guide

Payment Terms For All Yellow Dog Trip Bookings
In order to lock in your trip reservation, we ask that you please remit payment at the time of receipt of invoice. For your convenience, Yellow Dog accepts on-line payments via a direct and secure ACH platform – a quick and easy way to complete your trip reservation. Note that all Yellow Dog invoices include a live link that takes you directly to the Yellow Dog ACH platform for fast and easy payment. For open and existing invoices with a remaining balance, payment reminders also include this easy link to the ACH page.
Other customary forms of payment that are accepted are checks or wire transfers. If you would like to pay in a different way or have any questions about alternate payment methods, please contact Yellow Dog at (888) 777-5060 or (406) 585-8667. We are available Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Beginning September 1st, 2020, Yellow Dog will apply a 3% convenience fee for all credit card transactions.
