Trip Overview

In the remote reaches of Canada’s serene northern wilderness lies one of the best freshwater fisheries in the entire world – the incomparable Wollaston Lake. More than 100 miles long and 400 feet deep, Wollaston and its surrounding lakes attract seasoned anglers with vast populations of trophy fish of four distinct species: northern pike, lake trout, arctic grayling and walleye. And the magnificence of the fishery is matched only by the beauty and comfort of its premier destination — Wollaston Lake Lodge. Situated at the mouth of the Umpherville River, the Lodge is a spectacular retreat that is fully staffed to meet your highest expectations.

General Information
The waters of Wollaston Lake Lodge lure anglers from far and wide for the ultimate “Grand Slam of Freshwater Fishing” – northern pike, lake trout, walleye and Arctic grayling. These world-class fish are found in only a handful of Saskatchewan’s 98,000 lakes, which is something that makes Wollaston even more unique. The lake itself is 110 miles long and 45 miles wide, with 2,700 miles of shoreline and nearly 400 islands. Wollaston Lake Lodge's catch-and-release tradition (begun in the 1980s) helps assure great fishing year after year, and all anglers are required to fish with barbless hooks. Wollaston Lake Lodge makes every effort to conserve the fish population for future generations.

Few things stir the blood of a born angler like a powerful northern pike in hot pursuit of a fly. Or an Arctic grayling fighting hard on a five-weight rod after eating a dry fly in fast moving water. In the spring or fall, you can match wits with lake trout that are numerous and ravenous. The guides at the Lodge (many of whom were originally trained by Larry Dahlberg and Barry Reynolds) are experienced at guiding fly fishermen, and the boats have huge casting decks with plenty of room to maneuver. If you’ve ever dreamt of tangling with a huge pike or lake trout on the fly, the guides at Wollaston Lake Lodge have the expertise to accomplish that goal.

Boats and Equipment
You ride with comfort and security in a custom-crafted, 18-foot Wollaston Lake Lodge Edition Lund Pro-V boat, powered by an 80HP Yamaha four-stroke engine for smooth travel over big water. You’ll appreciate the spring-ride pedestal seating, raised casting deck, wide gunnels, Lowrance depth finder and MinnKota trolling motor. The lodge does have a fully-outfitted tackle shop, a complete rod rental program, and a complimentary fly-tying desk is at your disposal if you’d like to create a fly of your own design.
