Fly Fishing in Remote Australia

A short one-hour scenic charter flight from Darwin at the very top end of Australia – is the AWARD-WINNING Coburg Coastal Camp.

Cobourg Coastal Camp offers a unique ‘glamping’ and wilderness experience within one of the most untouched regions of the Northern Territory: the Cobourg Peninsula. Located on the most northern tip of Arnhem Land the Cobourg Peninsula forms part of the Garig Gunak Barlu National Park.

The Aboriginal lands of the Coburg are a perfect example of an environment that has never felt the effects of human interference. An environmentally sensitive safari-style camp caters to small groups and exclusive fishing experience.

Fishing

General Information
Fishing is a combination of inshore blue water and creek/estuary fisheries. You will be able to cast with your angling partner to trevallies, tuna, and queenfish in the rich waters off the peninsula and hunt barramundi and threadfin in the snags of the mangroves.

Using intermediate lines and floating lines with surface poppers – elicit aggressive strikes from the incredibly species-rich waters around camp. Fishing is boat-based and you will use an 8-weight but have your 10 and 12 ready for XXL pelagics. If you wish to fish the coral heads bring a sinking line and catch a coral trout for dinner or a large Spanish Mackerel.

You will leave from right outside the camp and find the best fishing with your guide for the day. Be sure to tell him if you would like to fish a particular area or species and they will be sure to meet your requests!

Boats and Equipment
6.8 Custom Works Eliminator Pros – All fishing gear must be brought by the angler.
