Food and Beverages
Your guide will provide a packed cooler lunch with soda and bottled water. Beer and alcohol are not included. Beer can be purchased at the Radisson dock.
Typical Length of Fishing Day
The standard fishing day is eight (8) hours long, although this can easily be adjusted based on your schedule and other factors, such as the arrival and departure time of a cruise ship.
Where To Meet Your Guide
If you are arriving by cruise ship in to Belize City, you will usually be brought to the main cruise ship dock located at the Belize City Tourist Village (by the Baron Bliss Lighthouse.) During the times that the cruise ships are in port, this is a very busy and crowded place. For that reason, your guide will be waiting for you upon arrival at the nearby Radisson dock – located NEXT to the Tourist Village. Be sure that prior to your trip you have provided us with the following information:
1. The complete name(s) of who will be fishing
2. The full name of the cruise ship and the cruise line (if applicable)
3. Scheduled arrival time in to Belize City
4. Scheduled departure time from Belize City
5. Notification of any medical or dietary issues or requests
It is important to note that your guide in Belize City will always use Belize Time. Some cruise ships are on Central Time and others are on Eastern Standard Time, so this needs to be clarified before you leave the ship, as the time changes throughout the year. Please be sure that you clarify the times BEFORE arriving in Belize City.
Internet / Communications
Not applicable for these day trips, although there is wireless internet access at the Radisson Hotel in Belize City. Most cell phones will work in the Belize City area.
Travel Details
How To Get There
The Radisson Fort George Hotel and Marina are located very close to the Tourist Village, where the cruise ships that visit Belize City disembark passengers. Upon arrival, you can either take a quick cab ride to the Radisson dock, or you can walk the short distance (approximately a 5-minute walk). When the cruise ships are in port, this area is full of people, meaning that the walk is both easy and safe.
Arrival and Departure Details / Times
Your guide will be waiting at the Radisson dock in a 23-foot boat (panga) loaded and ready to go! He will have all of your fishing gear ready, along with a packed cooler with lunch and cold beverages. The guide is usually at the Radisson dock by 8:00 AM. Some ships can get passengers ashore at 7:00 AM, in which case the guide will be at the Radisson dock by 7:30 AM. The return time is usually somewhere between 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM. We always ask anglers to confirm the exact time they need to be back at the ship before they depart the cruise ship in Belize City.
Documents Required
All U.S. citizens are required to have a valid passport that does not expire within six (6) months of trip dates. Citizens of the U.S., the British Commonwealth, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, and the European Community are NOT required to have Visas.
Minors Traveling To Belize Without Both Parents

Single parents need a notarized documentation of divorce decree or death certificate of spouse. Minors unaccompanied by either parent require a NOTARIZED letter of consent signed by both parents. Fishing
General Information
Even within a single day of fishing, numerous fishing options are available. Depending on weather conditions and the time of year, you can fish for bones along the many tidal flats and mangroves, chase permit on deeper flats, or even fish the barrier reef for larger species. Perhaps the most popular fishing in this part of Belize, however, is the sight fishing for tarpon. Resident schools of tarpon (20 to 100 pounds) roam the broad flats of the area and can be enticed to take a fly any time of the year.
Unlike many “day trip” fishing options offered directly through cruise ship companies or larger tour groups, this fishing program is totally legitimate and professional. You will fish either one or two-to-a-boat, with great equipment, a boat set up for fly and light tackle fishing, and a great guide. If the weather is good and the conditions are right, most people choose to fish the cayes and the flats and shallow waters located directly off the coast of Belize. This is where the largest concentrations of bonefish, tarpon and permit can be found throughout the year. If the weather is poor, you can still fish in the sanctuary of the mainland rivers – home to tarpon, snook, and numerous other species.
Boats and Equipment
Guides fish from 23-foot Mexican super pangas. These packages also include the use of quality gear and equipment, including rods and reels, leaders and tippet, and all necessary flies, lures, and other items.
