Driftwater Lodge is situated at the Gateway of the Tasmania Wilderness- a World Heritage site. Looking onto the Meander Valley, Driftwater’s century-old homestead provides the perfect home base to take advantage of the area’s fantastic waters. Choose between fishing tiny dry flies on a small mountain creek, wading freestone streams working slow-flowing riffles and runs, or fishing from one of the lodge’s handmade wooden boats on a river or lake. Driftwater is a great location for everyone in the family catering to both anglers and non-anglers alike. Driftwater’s boutique homestead is sophisticated yet relaxed. The century-old homestead provides the perfect home base to explore the beautiful Tasmanian countryside. Each spacious suite offers the choice of a queen or single bed to best suit your preferences. Each room comes with towels, toiletries, tea and coffee making facilities, a safe for your valuables, and an alarm for those early fishing mornings. Wi-fi is available at the lodge.
Food and Beverages
Guests will dine on local cuisines, many of which are made from produce grown right on the lodge property. Breakfast will consist of homemade muesli, fresh fruits including garden-grown raspberries, and locally made yogurt. When available, the Driftwater’s orchard will bear fruits that are used to make marmalades and jams. Locally produced eggs and bacon are available upon request. Riverside lunches will be provided to all guests and upon arrival to the lodge after a day of fishing, guests will be treated to delicious dinner cuisines featuring locally sourced produce.

The hiking and wildlife options are incredible and for wine and food lovers – Tasmania is renowned for fresh seafood cuisine and exceptional beverages. Several outdoor markets are must-sees and so is the world heritage cruise on the Gordon River.

How To Get There
Flights to Launceston leave daily from most major Australian East Coast airports. Melbourne has multiple flights and it is only a short flight down to Tasmania.

Fly fishing for Tasmania’s wild brown trout is truly a magical experience. This stunning landscape studded with beautiful mountains, breathtaking scenery, and abundant local wildlife provides a backdrop to the area’s number of world-class trout fisheries. Every angling experience can be catered to individual tastes- fly fish a mountain stream with small dry flies or wade a freestone river poking and prodding for trout behind boulders and in pocket water. Additionally, the renowned highland lakes of Tasmania provide an angling experience found in very few other destinations. Either wade the lake shores on the lookout for protruding fins or dark silhouettes or drift from one of the large wooden homemade boats casting to feeding fish. All skill levels are welcome and both novices and experts alike will enjoy the varied fishing scenarios.
Boats and Equipment
One of the novelties of fishing with Driftwater Lodge is the use of large wooden Loch style boats. These handmade boats provide a great way to explore Tasmania’s many fascinating lakes and rivers. They are as much a work of art as they are a functional fishing boat. For beginning fly fishing trip packages gear is available.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS – CANCELLATIONS
A non-refundable deposit of 50% per person is due within 10 days of booking for all lodging and fishing packages, and final payment if due 90 days prior to arrival. For cancellations, all deposits and payments are non-refundable. In no event will the lodge or Yellow Dog be responsible for any cancellation of services or operations due to inclement weather, any event of force majeure, airline delays or flight cancellations, or any other reason beyond the control of the lodge. The lodge will not refund payments in the event of poor weather, or if arrival flights are cancelled or airline connections are missed. Additionally, the lodge and Yellow Dog are not responsible for alternative travel arrangements including flights, hotels, meals and any other expenses incurred. For all of these reasons, and because of the lodge’s no refund and no credit policy, Yellow Dog strongly recommends that anglers and guests purchase travel insurance and full coverage for your trip. If a cancelled package is resold by either the lodge or by Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventures, then a full refund will be issued minus a $100.00 per person cancellation fee charged by Yellow Dog. Receipt of deposit and/or final payment is acknowledgment that registrant has read and accepts the deposit, cancellation, refund and responsibility clauses for these packages. Once again, Yellow Dog strongly recommends that anglers and guests purchase travel insurance these Australia packages.
Payment Terms For All Yellow Dog Trip Bookings
In order to lock in your trip reservation, we ask that you please remit payment within 10 days of receipt of invoice. For your convenience, Yellow Dog accepts on-line payments via a direct and secure ACH platform – a quick and easy way to complete your trip reservation. Note that all Yellow Dog invoices include a live link that takes you directly to the Yellow Dog ACH platform for fast and easy payment. For open and existing invoices with a remaining balance, payment reminders also include this easy link to the ACH page.
Other customary forms of payment that are accepted are checks or wire transfers. If you would like to pay in a different way or have any questions about alternate payment methods, please contact Yellow Dog at (888) 777-5060 or (406) 585-8667. We are available Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Beginning September 1st, 2020, Yellow Dog will apply a 2% convenience fee for all American Express credit card transactions, and a 3% convenience fee for Visa, MasterCard and Discover transactions.
