Species Diversity in Exmouth's Back Country
Fish remote northwest Australia! Exmouth is one of the planet’s most diverse and untouched wilderness fly fishing destinations. The Ningaloo coastline is a World Heritage Marine Park and Exmouth is the perfect small-town base to explore this incredible fishery. From blue water opportunities to chasing both species of Indopacific permit on the flats – The fly fishing is world class.

Calm offshore conditions allow the opportunity to cast to billfish, tunas and a multitude of species smashing bait balls and capitalizing on the incredible biomass. Closer to shore the flats are home to permit, blue bastards, queenfish, and trevallies. Fishing is generally from the boat and your guides will use electric motors to place you into the perfect position to make the cast. Temperatures are warm through the winter and can be hot through summer – The windiest months are November through January.
You will be picked up in the morning from your accommodation and will head out onto the Gulf or reef side depending on weather conditions. Using a full intermediate you will hunt out permit and other flats species including the elusive Australian bonefish. Later you might hunt GTs in the reef passes or seek out a whale shark and cast to the cruising cobia swimming with her.
