Located on the north end of Long Island, Stella Maris is an “elegantly casual” full-service resort that caters to both the serious flats angler as well as families, large groups, and non-anglers. The resort is situated on 3,000 secluded acres, with a variety of accommodations and activities to suit everyone. If you are looking for a romantic vacation, family retreat, corporate function, or a focused, hard-core fishing trip, Stella Maris covers all the bases. From comfortable lodge accommodations to private oceanfront houses, you can customize your stay to match the specific needs of your group or fishing party. As for angling opportunities, the bonefishing on Long Island’s uncrowded flats can truly be described as incredible. Schools of bonefish in the Stella Maris area can number anywhere from 40 to over 400, with fish ranging in size from two to over ten pounds.

Lodging Details
There are many accommodations and amenities from which to choose at Stella Maris: from standard rooms to deluxe, full-service houses perfect for families and groups. All guests have access to all of the resort’s amenities including three swimming pools, seven secluded beach coves, daily boat cruises, snorkeling tours, guided land and beach tours, tennis courts, a recreation room, exercise room, private beach access, and nighttime activities.

Lodge Rooms
These rooms are located near the main lodge, dining room, and bar. Built atop a hill, the Lodge Rooms offer stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and the east coast of Long Island. Each room is equipped with individual A/C, ceiling fans, a small refrigerator, a coffee maker, and a balcony with an ocean view. Units contain either two double beds or a king-sized bed.

Cottages
Cottages are one-bedroom units that are great for couples or a single angler looking for extra space. The cottages surround a pool and are located halfway up the hill between the ocean and the main lodge. Each features a full bathroom and a small living room equipped with A/C.

Ocean Villas
The Ocean Villas are perfect for two couples or small groups. The units are located on the Atlantic Coast with an upper living room and open kitchen. Two spacious balconies overlook the ocean and the resort grounds. All Ocean Villas house two bedrooms on the lower level with A/C, two bathrooms, and a patio. There is also beach access and a pool.

Bungalows
The larger Bungalows are mainly used for groups of four to eight people and offer a private house setting situated directly on the beach. Some of the three- and four-bedroom units have separate outside entrances to the bedrooms for added privacy. The rear of each Bungalow opens out to a private saltwater pool that directly overlooks the beach and the Atlantic beyond.

Food and Beverages
All meals at Stella Maris Resort are served in the Clubhouse restaurant and the bar and lounge area. Breakfast is served each morning from 7:30 AM to 10:00 AM, lunch from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, and dinner from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. All meals are offered a la carte and are separate from the Yellow Dog Lodging Package. For all fishing days, a packed cooler lunch and beverages will be provided and included with the day.

Typical Length of Stay
Trips of any length are available. With an amazing array of amenities and non-angling activities, Stella Maris is the perfect place for family retreats, couples getaways, group trips, and large corporate trips.

Non-Angling Activities and Options
Stella Maris offers a complete line-up of non-angling activities including island hopping, scuba diving, snorkeling, guided land tours, guided water and boat tours, bicycling, sea-kayaking, tennis, catered parties, sailing, ecotours, cave parties, weekly live music, and dancing. Exploring the island by car is another great activity and one that is highly recommended.

Internet / Communications.
The Resort does have Wi-Fi internet access available. Many U.S. cell phones will work on Long Island and throughout the Bahamas, depending on your service plan.

How To Get There
Daily service from Nassau International Airport (NAS) to Long Island’s Deadman’s Cay Airport (LGI) is available on Bahamas Air and Southern Air. There are charter options available from Nassau to Stella Maris through Southern Air and Pineapple Air. Stella Maris Resort Air Service can also provide direct round-trip service from Nassau, Bahamas on their privately owned and operated aircraft. Arrival and Departure Details / Times
If you are using Stella Maris Resort Air Service to access Long Island, then you should arrive in Nassau, Bahamas, no later than 3:00 PM for the short, one-hour flight to Long Island. You can arrive and depart on any day of the week. Once you arrive on Long Island, a taxi will transport you from the airport directly to the Resort.

Documents Required
All U.S. citizens are required to have a valid passport that does not expire within six (6) months of trip dates. Please be sure that your passport has at least two blank, unstamped pages remaining in the back, and that it is not torn, delaminated or damaged in any way.

General Information
The majority of bonefishing takes place within a short distance from Stella Maris Marina in Adderley, Glenton, and Joe Sound Bays. The boat ride to these areas will range from five to ten minutes, with the majority of fishing done from the boat. There are wading opportunities in the Stella Maris area, but the guides take advantage of the extensive flats system by poling over prime water. If you enjoy wading, there are two large lagoon areas located further north, called Cape Santa Maria and Columbus Harbour. Not only do these areas provide great wading situations, but they’re also drop dead gorgeous, with beautiful white sand bottoms and sapphire water surrounded by rocky cliffs.

Whether you are a first-time saltwater fisherman or an experienced angler, the guides at Stella Maris will provide you with an unforgettable day on the water. All of the guides are Long Island natives who are endorsed by the Bahamian government as Bahamas Flyfishing Guides. Demonstrating a commitment to total client satisfaction, the guides excel at patience, instruction, and can adapt to the experience level of any angler.

Boats and Equipment
Guides utilize Hewes 16-foot skiffs complete with poling platforms, 90HP Yamaha outboards, and spacious casting decks. As with all of our Bahamian fishing operations, it is recommended that anglers bring all of their own gear and equipment, including rods, reels, wading boots, flies, and all terminal tackle.

Remember that Yellow Dog’s services are completely free! When you book a trip with Yellow Dog, you never pay more than when you book directly with the lodge or outfitter. All prices listed below are based on a nightly rate and quoted in U.S. dollars.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS – CANCELLATIONS
For cancellations, both deposits and refunds are refundable outside of 30 days, minus a $100.00 per person processing fee charged by Yellow Dog Flyfishing and a fee of $75 + 12% VAT applied to all cancellations by the resort. Inside of 30 days, deposits and final payments are non-refundable. If a cancelled package is resold then a full refund will be sent minus a $100.00 per person rebooking fee. Stella Maris and Yellow Dog strongly recommend that anglers and guests purchase travel insurance for your trip. Stella Maris will not refund payments in the event of a hurricane or poor weather. No refund can be made for unused arrangements or fishing time lost due to inclement weather. Receipt of deposit and/or final payment is acknowledgment that registrant has read and accepts the deposit, cancellation, refund and responsibility clauses for these packages.

Payment Terms For All Yellow Dog Trip Bookings
In order to lock in your trip reservation, we ask that you please remit payment at the time of receipt of invoice. For your convenience, Yellow Dog accepts on-line payments via a direct and secure ACH platform – a quick and easy way to complete your trip reservation. Note that all Yellow Dog invoices include a live link that takes you directly to the Yellow Dog ACH platform for fast and easy payment. For open and existing invoices with a remaining balance, payment reminders also include this easy link to the ACH page.

Other customary forms of payment that are accepted are checks or wire transfers. Beginning September 1st, 2020, Yellow Dog will apply a 3% convenience fee for all credit card transactions.
