A Premier Patagonian Fly Fishing Destination On 435k Acres
Estancia Tecka is a massive working cattle and sheep ranch spanning over 435,000 acres in central Patagonia south of the town of Esquel that includes a vast holding of private fly water where guests can fish all day and never see another soul. From Tecka’s two lodges, Caridad and Headquarters, eighteen anglers share exclusive wade and drift fishing access to forty-five miles of the Corcovado river, thirty-five miles of the Tecka spring creek as well as a number of tributaries and smaller spring creeks. The combination of rich history, exclusive access fisheries, high-end amenities and meticulous attention to detail has earned Tecka a well-deserved reputation as a premier Patagonian fly fishing destination.
Estancia Tecka boasts two different lodges – Caridad Lodge and Headquarters Lodge – located 45 minutes from each other on opposite ends of the massive estancia. Headquarters Lodge is the original main house of the estancia and features four (4) comfortable double occupancy rooms. Caridad Lodge is positioned a bit further into the estancia and has six (6) spacious double rooms. Rooms at both lodges are suited with private in-room bath.
Food and Beverages
Tecka prepares delicious traditional Argentine dishes where the main course is typically based around locally sourced beef and lamb as well as a full spectrum of creative and wholesome international preparations. Each week guests are treated to an authentic Argentine asado that includes an assortment of fantastic meats grilled over an open fire.
Typical Length of Stay
The typical length of stay is seven (7) nights / six (6) days of fishing.
Tecka Lodge is a remote working ranch and a fly fishing focused destination with limited non-angling activity options available.
Internet / Communications
Reliable Wifi internet is available but can be slow at times.
How to Get There
Getting to Patagonia is not as difficult as it is time-consuming. Travelers typically take an overnight flight from one of several major cities in the U.S. and arrive in Buenos Aires (Ezeiza International Airport – EZE) in the morning. Guests will need to overnight in Buenos Aires. The following day guests will take a mid-day flight from Buenos Aires (Jorge Newbery Domestic Airport – AEP) to Esquel. From the Esquel airport, it is a scenic 2-hour drive to the lodge. Please contact us directly for assistance with airport/hotel transfers and travel logistics within Buenos Aires.
Arrival and Departure Details / Times
The 2.5-hour flight from Buenos Aires to Esquel operates once per day and six days per week (except Wednesday).
Citizens of the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, the UK, and other Western European nations do not need a visa for tourist trips of up to ninety days. You will need a valid passport and will have to fill in an ‘arrival card.’ You will then be given a tourist visa stamp for stays of thirty, sixty, or ninety days. Staple the duplicate of your arrival card into your passport as you will need it to leave the country. If you lose it, it’s rarely a serious problem, but you’ll have to fill out a new form at border control. Upon entering the country, you will also be given a customs declaration form. Duty is not charged on used personal effects, books and other articles for non-commercial purposes, up to a value of US $300. Make sure you declare any valuable electronic items such as laptop computers, as customs officers can be suspicious that you may be bringing them into the country to sell.

In terms of access to private water, Estancia Tecka is among the best. Both the Rio Corcovado and Rio Tecka meander across the ranch providing exclusive access to over 90 miles carefully managed water with robust populations of rainbow, brown, and brook trout in the 15-22+ inch class. The larger crystal-clear boulder ridden Rio Corcovado is best accessed by drift boat and offers fifteen (15) unique float options whereas the smaller and more intimate Rio Tecka is a traditional spring creek and is exclusively fished by wading its grassy banks. Anglers fish two (2) per guide and drive times to fishing areas range from 15 minutes to 1 hour.
Boats and Equipment
The lodge has well-equip fiberglass drift boats. Guests can rely on the lodge and guides for backup rods, reels, and flies but anglers should plan accordingly and pack as much of their own gear and equipment as possible, including waders, boots, flies, rods, and reels.
