Fly Fish for Hucho Hucho Taimen
Join Yellow Dog’s Mongolia program director, Josh Mills, on a hosted trip to fly fish for taimen this fall. Traveling to Mongolia is among the most extraordinary fly fishing expeditions worldwide. The culture is ancient, the landscape is immense, and the locals are exceedingly hospitable. The rivers host the largest trout on the planet, the colossal taimen, which are the world’s largest salmonids. Targeting these beasts while fishing the rivers is a thrilling experience as their size, aggressive nature, and breathtaking strikes make them a beloved species among all anglers fortunate enough to target them.
This trip will take part via Mongolia River Outfitters’ Lower River Expedition. Anglers will spend seven full days fishing through a very beautiful and remote stretch of the world’s first taimen sanctuary – casting for taimen, Amur trout, lenok, grayling, and the Amur pike.

Rates: $6,950 + $500 host fee
What’s Included:
- Meet-and-greet reception and transfers upon arrival into Ulaanbaatar (ULN)
- All double occupancy accommodations in river camps (number of nights will vary depending on package)
- Two (2) nights of hotel lodging in Ulaanbaatar on front and back end of trip
- Three meals per day while in camp
- All guided river fishing (two anglers per guide/boat)
- Flies, leader, and tippet
- Beer, wine, sodas, and vodka in camp
- Mongolian fishing license (pre-paid amount of $330)
- All in-country air and land transfers
- Breakfast at hotel in Ulaanbaatar
- Guided city tour of Ulaanbaatar (upon request)

- International flights to Ulaanbaatar (ULN)
- Meals, drinks, taxis, tours, and any additional expenses while in Ulaanbaatar
- Fishing tackle, waders, rods, reels, and other fishing equipment
- Gratuities for guides and staff
- Global Rescue insurance and trip insurance (mandatory)
