Senior Accountant

Position: Yellow Dog Flyfishing Senior Accountant
The ideal candidate will be well-organized and comfortable dealing with all types of financial data. This individual will be responsible for overseeing accounts payable and receivable, processing payroll, and conducting other tasks related to finance. The candidate should be extremely detailed and process-oriented and able to contribute to positive change and development. This is an in-house position located in Bozeman, Montana. 

The Senior Accountant role will report directly to the CFO. This position is expected to have a strong sense of ownership, the ability to identify process improvement opportunities and have strong knowledge of accounting principles. The Senior Accountant serves as a liaison between our lodges and in-house sales staff. 

Required Skills/Experience/Attributes: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in an accounting or finance role 
  • 5+ years of QuickBooks Desktop experience preferred 
  • Working knowledge of GAAP 
  • Strong organizational and stress management skills 
  • Able to work effectively under pressures of management deadlines 
  • Must have strong Excel skills 
  • Strong communication and analytical skills 
  • Able to work effectively under pressures of management deadlines 
  • Proficient in QuickBooks Desktop 
  • Ability to streamline processes and build on existing departmental SOPs 
  • Proven ability to handle a high-volume workload at a high level of efficiency 
  • A high level of integrity is needed as this role deals with confidential information  

Responsibilities: 

  • Track expenses, build budget, support tax filing process, predict cash flows, manage receipts and other company financial dealings 
  • Assist with the creation of new month-end reporting and closing procedures 
  • Research and analyze expense variances for company management 
  • Reconcile bank and credit card accounts monthly 
  • Prepare quarterly and annual payroll tax filings 
  • Daily processing of general invoices, receivables, and payables 
  • Support customers by monitoring the billing hotline 
  • Prepare monthly journal entries (Payroll, Fixed Assets, Prepaid Expenses) 
  • Assist with year-end audit, prepare supporting documentation, and address auditors’ questions 
  • Assist with process documentation for new system implementation 
  • Identify and implement process improvements to build efficiencies 
  • Perform ad hoc requests at the request of management 
  • Comfortable having conversations about account balances with vendors and customers 
  • Ensure timely processing of payroll (bi-weekly) 
  • Support CFO by managing needed data entry, financial analysis, etc. as-needed 
  • Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending 
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures

Staff Accountant

Position: Yellow Dog Flyfishing Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant is a liaison between our lodges and in-house sales staff.

Required Skills/Experience/Attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (strongly preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience in an accounting or finance role
  • 3+ years of QuickBooks Desktop experience preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and QuickBooks Desktop
  • Ability to streamline processes and build on existing SOPs
  • Proven ability to handle a high-volume workload at a high level of efficiency
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • A high level of integrity is needed as this role deals with confidential information
  • Has a positive attitude and an unrivaled ability to work with peers, staff and management collaboratively
  • Has strong verbal and written communication skills

What is Yellow Dog Looking for in an Intern? This internship is best suited for college students with a passion for digital marketing, web development, and branding, looking to earn college credit in exchange for their time here at Yellow Dog. We are looking for someone who is willing to spend the majority of their time focused on computer-based work. This is not a salaried, full-time position, but an excellent learning opportunity to work from top to bottom in a full-scale travel and e-commerce site. We offer a flexible schedule within the typical office hours of Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

DUTIES:

  • Work with Yellow Dog’s marketing/e-com team to enhance a newly launched e-com web platform
  • Product data entry
  • Enhance lodge, region, product, collection, and blog pages
  • Work with marketing to launch various product/travel campaigns
  • SEO and internal linking work
  • Collecting and organizing needed media assets for web

EXPERIENCE / SKILLS:

  • A deep passion and knowledge of fly fishing is very beneficial
  • Prior digital marketing/web development experience OR a burning desire to learn
  • Attention to detail and self-starter mentality is paramount
