Senior Accountant

Position: Yellow Dog Flyfishing Senior Accountant
The ideal candidate will be well-organized and comfortable dealing with all types of financial data. This individual will be responsible for overseeing accounts payable and receivable, processing payroll, and conducting other tasks related to finance. The candidate should be extremely detailed and process-oriented and able to contribute to positive change and development. This is an in-house position located in Bozeman, Montana. 

The Senior Accountant role will report directly to the CFO. This position is expected to have a strong sense of ownership, the ability to identify process improvement opportunities and have strong knowledge of accounting principles. The Senior Accountant serves as a liaison between our lodges and in-house sales staff. 

Required Skills/Experience/Attributes: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in an accounting or finance role 
  • 5+ years of QuickBooks Desktop experience preferred 
  • Working knowledge of GAAP 
  • Strong organizational and stress management skills 
  • Able to work effectively under pressures of management deadlines 
  • Must have strong Excel skills 
  • Strong communication and analytical skills 
  • Able to work effectively under pressures of management deadlines 
  • Proficient in QuickBooks Desktop 
  • Ability to streamline processes and build on existing departmental SOPs 
  • Proven ability to handle a high-volume workload at a high level of efficiency 
  • A high level of integrity is needed as this role deals with confidential information  

Responsibilities: 

  • Track expenses, build budget, support tax filing process, predict cash flows, manage receipts and other company financial dealings 
  • Assist with the creation of new month-end reporting and closing procedures 
  • Research and analyze expense variances for company management 
  • Reconcile bank and credit card accounts monthly 
  • Prepare quarterly and annual payroll tax filings 
  • Daily processing of general invoices, receivables, and payables 
  • Support customers by monitoring the billing hotline 
  • Prepare monthly journal entries (Payroll, Fixed Assets, Prepaid Expenses) 
  • Assist with year-end audit, prepare supporting documentation, and address auditors’ questions 
  • Assist with process documentation for new system implementation 
  • Identify and implement process improvements to build efficiencies 
  • Perform ad hoc requests at the request of management 
  • Comfortable having conversations about account balances with vendors and customers 
  • Ensure timely processing of payroll (bi-weekly) 
  • Support CFO by managing needed data entry, financial analysis, etc. as-needed 
  • Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending 
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures

Staff Accountant

Position: Yellow Dog Flyfishing Staff Accountant

Program Administrator: Salt and Freshwater

Position: Program Administrator Salt and Freshwater
Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventures is looking for a meticulous communicator, detail-oriented, customer service-focused person to join the Yellow Dog team as a Program Assistant here in Bozeman, Montana. Please note this is an office-based administrative position, not a fly fishing or travel-based position. We are currently hiring for both salt and freshwater destinations.

COMPANY DESCRIPTION
Yellow Dog Flyfishing is a hands-on, specialty travel and fly fishing destination company that delivers the finest “insider” knowledge that customers need to find, book and arrange the perfect fly fishing vacation. Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventures represents over 200 lodges and outfitters around the globe. Yellow Dog plans and books high-end angling and vacation packages, providing clients with exceptional expertise, planning materials and customer service from start to finish. With an office location in the heart of downtown Bozeman, Yellow Dog offers a high-energy, fast-paced work environment and the opportunity to work with an exceptionally friendly and cooperative group of travel and fishing professionals.

DUTIES

  • Generate travel itineraries and trip planning paperwork with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Enter data into Salesforce database system with accuracy and assist in regular maintenance of Salesforce system
  • Track the trip planning process, from pre-trip planning details to post-trip feedback.
  • Assist with managing complex logistics
  • Provide customer support via phone and email, including answering incoming company phone calls
  • Maintain a professional and customer service focus when communicating with clients, vendors and partners
  • Act as a liaison between clients and our 200+ partners/lodges
  • Work with the Program Directors to maintain customer service goals
  • Provide assistance with general day to day operations of Yellow Dog office
  • Periodically participate in events and projects outside of business hours

EXPERIENCE / SKILLS

  • A fly fishing background and knowledge of the sport is a bonus, as is experience in travel planning or concierge services
  • Currently hiring for Central America, Mongolia, Iceland and other destinations. Experience in these regions is a huge plus!
  • Possess and demonstrate a strong attention to detail, willingness to be a team player, with strong customer service skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong phone contact handling skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite, Quickbooks, Outlook, Salesforce and other data management tools
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively in a fast-paced work environment
  • Maintain client confidentiality at all times

SCHEDULING AND HOURS

  • Full-time, in-office position, 40 hours M-F within the 8-5pm guidelines

COMPENSATION

  • Compensation is dependent on experience, $45-50,000

What is Yellow Dog Looking for in an Intern? We are looking for a detail-oriented, self-starter – one who excels in both written and verbal communication and has the ability to work independently while wearing many hats simultaneously. Our internship program is best suited for college students looking to earn college credit in exchange for their time here at Yellow Dog. This is not a salaried, full-time position, but an excellent learning opportunity to get your feet wet working alongside the best of the best, and an incredible way to learn the business from the bottom up! We offer a flexible schedule within the typical office hours of Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

DUTIES:

  • Work alongside YDFA program directors and administrators to generate client travel documents 
  • Independently enter data into Salesforce CRM and/or Quickbooks with accuracy
  • Assist our social media team with content generation, ideas and industry research
  • Handle marketing material mailings and work on campaigns
  • Maintain a professional voice when communicating with clients and vendors / partners
  • Act as a multi-tasking team player open to events, projects, research, editing, proofing and more
  • Work with the Executive Director and board members of the Yellow Dog Community and Conservation Foundation (YDCCF) in program development

EXPERIENCE / SKILLS:

  • Strong attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Experience working in fast-paced environments, willingness to handle any task
  • Experience with travel planning, concierge services and social media outlets is preferred
  • A fly fishing background and knowledge of the sport is a bonus (not required, but helpful!)
