Guys, My trip to Alaska West was my seventh with Yellow Dog and I have booked an eighth trip to Crooked Island in 2015. About Alaska West We consider this operation to be one of the very best values in all of Alaska â especially when you consider the quality of fishing. The Kanektok River, the home waters for Alaska West, is arguably one of the best places in the world to target King and Silver salmon. It is also an incredible fishery for the famous Alaskan "Leopard Bows" - spectacularly colored rainbow trout named for the amazing profusion of spots that cover their body. Other species include Dolly Varden, Grayling, and all five species of Pacific salmon. Accommodations while at Alaska West are in comfortable, sturdy Weatherport-type tents with carpeted wooden floors, heat, electricity, and beds with comfortable mattresses. Hot showers, sinks with hot and cold water, and outhouses are also provided.
