Fly Tying Brushes

Fly tying brushes are pre-made strands of synthetic or natural materials twisted around wire to create a uniform brush. They make it easy to build durable bodies, collars, or heads on flies, especially streamers, saltwater patterns, and articulated flies. Brushes save time at the vise and provide consistency from one fly to the next.

Brushes come in a wide range of sizes, densities, and materials. Some are designed for slim baitfish patterns, while others are bulky and ideal for creating crab bodies or streamer heads. They can include synthetic fibers, flash, rubber legs, or even natural materials like marabou or craft fur. Choosing the right brush depends on the fly style and target species.

Using a brush simplifies the tying process by combining multiple materials into one step. Instead of stacking fibers and flash individually, the brush is simply palmered or wrapped around the hook shank. This creates consistent, professional-looking flies while saving time, especially when tying in bulk.
