Green Drake Flies
Green drakes are a species of large mayfly that are highly prized by fly fishermen for their size and beauty. They are typically found in cold, clear rivers and streams, and emerge in late spring or early summer. Green drakes are known for their distinctive olive-green coloration and large size, with some specimens growing up to three inches in length.  A big, meaty mayfly that brings hungry trout to the surface, their emerging forms, while not as predictable as other mayflies, quickly draw the full attention of nearby rainbows and brown trout. We encourage anglers to have a few forms of the green drake, including nymphs, big dries, and especially low-floating cripple patterns.
