Matthew and I both had a great time at Grand Slam Lodge a few weeks ago! I would strongly recommend anyone with any fishing skill set to go on this trip. An easy flight to Cancun with someone waiting for you as soon as you get through customs, followed by a drive south until you hop on a boat to the lodge. We stopped in Playa Del Carmen for a quick lunch and a few beers.
The boat ride for us was not ideal, due to rain (I would advise you to pull your rain jacket out before getting on the boat and have any valuables in waterproof bags for this ride). Once arrived the setup was better than expected and the staff was first class.
Cocktails and dinner that night followed by 3 days of great fishing! As expected there was wind and some rain, but that's fishing. We caught over 8 species of fish and the guides were super helpful and fun to hang out with/bs with. The food and staff around the lodge were also great. Fun main room to play cards/ping pong in as well as enjoy cocktails. Looking forward to the next trip with Yellow Dog!
