YUCATAN CLIENT TRIP PHOTOS | PESCA MAYA
Yellow Dog Flyfishing client, Joe, sent us in some photos from his trip. He was fishing with Wilberth, and by the looks of it, had a fantastic time. Nice work guys! If you’re not familiar with the Pesca Maya or the Yucatan, here is the quick 411. Situated in the middle of the 1.3-million acre Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve is Pesca Maya Lodge. This prime location offers one of the best values found anywhere in the world of saltwater flats fishing. The lodge property is located 90 miles south of Cancun on a long, narrow strip of barrier beach that is virtually surrounded by the waters of Ascension Bay and the Boca Paila lagoons. If you’re a beginning saltwater angler, Ascension Bay is one of the best places in the world to catch your first bonefish. For more seasoned anglers, this is certainly one of the worlds best locations to target permit on a fly.
Pesca Maya offers the best of both fly-fishing worlds – a short boat ride to the productive flats of Ascension Bay or a quick trip to the more secluded lagoons that surround it. Because of these strong resident fish numbers and additional seasonal migrations of snook and tarpon, there have arguably been more Grand Slams and Super Grand Slams caught here than anywhere else in the world. Whether wading the warm sandy flats or fishing from the boat, Ascension Bay is the ideal destination for the saltwater flats angler.PESCA MAYA Yellow Dog Flyfishing Lodge Page
