Description

Orvis Clearwater 905-4 Outfit

9' 5 weight, 4 piece fly rod, reel, line, and case outfit

Everything has changed except the value. The new Clearwater Rod Series is a complete overhaul from the ground up by our Vermont rod designers. Each rod is designed with a purpose-built profile and action to handle the fishing the rod would be traditionally used for, from medium-action small stream rods to medium-fast freshwater rods and fast-action big game rods. Designed in Vermont for anglers worldwide.

Warranty

Orvis 25-Year Guarantee

What that means is, we’ll fix your broken fly rod, and if we can’t fix it, we’ll replace it, no questions asked. Step on it, close the door on it, run over it with the car—it doesn’t matter, we’ll fix it. If we can’t repair it, we’ll choose a newer model rod of at least equal value to replace it. Your investment is assured for a nominal shipping and handling charge.

Orvis Clearwater 9' 5WT Outfit

When it comes to fly rod kits, the Orvis Clearwater Outfit is hard to beat. You get a rod, reel, and fly line in the same package. The clearwater rod is a durable and easy casting rod that wont break the bank. The 5 weight option is perfect for anyone looking to get started in fly fishing for trout. It can throw dry flies, nymphs, and even smaller streamers. Choosing the right gear when getting started fly fishing can be tough with there being countless different options and combinations to choose from. The Clearwater outfit makes it simple. You won't have to worry about matching the wrong line or reel with a rod. Orvis has it covered. Not to mention the amazing warranty that Orvis offers. If you break a section of the rod, you don't have to worry about the hassle of sending the entire rod back to be repaired. You can simple order a new piece from the Orvis website. I have actually broken a rod on a Monday and received my replacement piece on that following Friday! A service that not all rod manufactures can provide.

The Clearwater 5wt Kit is an incredible bang for your buck. The rod, line, and reel provide the beginner or intermediate angler with everything they need to fish a medium size western river. You get what you pay for with this set-up. Where it shines is medium weight rigs such as a hopper droppers, smaller streamers, and standard nymph rigs. It definitely can't handle most of the larger streamers that are becoming popular today such as the Double Gonga or the Pearl Necklace. The cast reel does balance the rod well, but the line could use an upgrade. That said, Orvis does have a 25 year rod warranty on the Clearwater and I've never waited more than one week to get a rod part back due to how ubiquitous this set up is. Comparing Orvis' awesome return policy to some of the other companies which can take 4+ weeks is definitely something to consider...
