Cuba: Discounted Rates and Rare Availability

Jardines de la Reina, or the “Gardens of the Queen,” is one of Cuba’s most prized fisheries, famous for great numbers of tarpon in the 40-80# range, permit, and large bonefish. The trip is characterized by long fishing days, excellent liveaboard accommodations, and quick access to a pristine and well-protected tropical fishery. Anglers traveling to JDR stay aboard the Avalon IV, the newest of the Avalon fleet, complete with large staterooms, private bathrooms, comfortable shared lounge areas, and a rooftop deck perfect for enjoying sunset mojitos.

Additionally, Cuba’s preeminent permit fishery, Cayo Largo, has prime availability for a group of anglers. Based on the Avalon I, late May offers anglers excellent permit fishing, abundant bonefish, and opportunities for migratory and resident tarpon. The trip requires a yacht buyout with a minimum of 6 anglers, perfect for an intact group of friends anxious to spend some time together in paradise.

When: May 27 – June 3, 2023 (Minimum of six anglers required)

Rate: $7,590 per angler

  • Meet-and-greet reception upon arrival at Havana’s Jose Marti International Airport (HAV)
  • Seven (7) nights’ accommodations aboard JA 1 (ten suites aboard – 8 single rooms and 2 double rooms)

  • Transfers on arrival and departure from Havana to Puerto Zapesca

Finally, Isla de la Juventud has some rare early summer availability to enjoy one of the world’s finest tarpon fisheries. This time of year is regarded as the best time to target large tarpon, as well as big bonefish and the occasional permit. The snook fishing in the area is also amazing – hands-down the best in all of Cuba. Expect multiple shots for all types of species, and come prepared with multiple rod set-ups for tarpon, bones, permit, snook, ‘cuda, and more.
