- Yes the trip booking process was good, especially considering the delays with Christmas Island being closed to tourists for the duration of the pandemic.
Was the Yellow Dog pre-trip planning packet(s) and travel itinerary you received for your trip helpful and accurate? If not, how could it be improved?
- The pre trip planning packet was very useful with its comprehensive detail. It would have saved some expense if we were informed that we could exchange our US dollars and tip in Australian currency.
Do you have any comments or constructive feedback based on the overall lodging (rooms, dining area, social area, etc)?
- Lodge was nice, especially the daily laundry service.
Do you have any comments or constructive feedback based on the service, friendliness, etc of the lodge staff?
- The staff was Accommodating, I did have one issue with a pair of flip flops that disappeared which I had placed outside, assumably was taken by one of the other non-angling guests.
Did the food (breakfast, lunch, dinner) match what you were expecting? If not, please provide additional comments or constructive feedback.
- The food was good considering the limited resources available into the country. Would have been nice to have more fresh fruits and vegetables, we were offered salad greens on two days.
Were you pleased with your guide(s) customer service, communication skills, professionalism, work ethic, and general fishing knowledge? If not, please share why.
- The guide K2 was top notch.
What key pieces of gear or flies made your trip successful?
- The recommendations in the packet were good for bonefish, triggerfish, and trevally. it was also useful to have a 14wt rod setup with trolling flies which allowed us to catch sailfish.
What piece(s) of equipment would not leave home without for this trip , or your next, with Yellow Dog?
- Comfortable wading boots.
Would you return to this lodge destination? Please share why or why not.
- It would be great to return to Kiribati to fish the varied saltwater flats species.
How would you briefly summarize your overall trip experience?
- Was a great trip to a unique fishing destination. highly recommend to come experience it.
