Scorpion Atoll is one of the few truly remote destinations left on the planet. Fortunately, enough, Yellow Dog calls the incredible destination one of the places we fish. The atoll is the largest coral structure in the Gulf of Mexico and due to its marine park designation, is protected from commercial fishing. For the fly fisher, this means an incredible fishery. Anglers can cast to bonefish and permit as well as barracudas, triggerfish, sharks, amberjacks, mutton snappers, and other Caribbean flats species.
As far as permit fishing goes, these flats can be some of the best in the world. Enjoy fishing for tailing permit while wading in shallow water. The seclusion and phenomenally diverse fishery evoke images of other exotic destinations that Yellow Dog books like Christmas Island and the Seychelles – only that Scorpion Atoll is more or less in our backyard with its location in the Caribbean.
Before taking the trip out to the Atoll, anglers will stay a night in Merida where they can enjoy all the rich Mexican culture.
