SPORTSMEN'S CONSERVATION FUND | SAVE BRISTOL BAY
As many of you are already aware, the incredible Bristol Bay region of Alaska is under threat by major mining corporations and the proposed Pebble Mine. If the proposal for the mine is allowed to go through, thousands of healthy salmon runs and millions of acres of ecosystem that play major roles in the Bristol Bay region’s economic, social, cultural and ecological well-being will be in direct threat from mining activities.
Local communities, jobs, and the health of the entire region depend on this fragile ecosystem. The salmon that run throughout the Bristol Bay region sustain both thriving commercial and sport fishing industries as well as traditional subsistence ways of life.
Nearly 800 hunting and fishing businesses and organizations (including us here at Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventures), have banded together to do what we can to help protect Bristol Bay and its incredible natural resources that are being threatened. With the help of all parties concerned, we can ensure that Bristol Bay can continue to be an important part of America's hunting and fishing legacy.
Trout Unlimited's Save Bristol Bay program has been offered a challenge grant from a major supporter for efforts to protect Bristol Bay. For every dollar donated by individuals and businesses from now through December 31st, Trout Unlimited's supporter will match the donation (up to $200,000). All donations will go directly to Trout Unlimited's work to protect Bristol Bay's fish, wildlife and renewable resources from the risks posed by Pebble.
