Lodging Details
The Estancia de los Rios lodge is a comfortable timber lodge tucked away on a massive 360,000-acre private ranch close to the Argentine-Chile border with beautiful views of the surrounding valley. The lodge consists of six double-occupancy rooms each with a private bathroom, ample and comfortable mudroom, dining room, lounge area, and fly tying room. There is also a cottage for 4 guests used to overnight when fishing a distant spring creek and a mountain camp to overnight when fishing high mountain lakes.

Food and Beverages
The lodge staff prepares local Chilean cuisine consisting of locally sourced meats, fish and produce paired with select Chilean wines and beer. Hearty breakfasts are served before heading out to fish for the day. During the fishing day, hot and cold lunches are prepared and served by your guide. After fishing, appetizers and traditional Pisco Sours and Chilean wines are served at cocktail hour followed by hearty multi-course dinners.

Typical Length of Stay
Standard length packages are seven (7) nights / six (6) days (Saturday-Saturday).

Non-Angling Activities and Options
For the non-angler, or those simply wanting to take a rest from fishing, there are numerous activities available including a variety of walks and hikes from the lodge, including the rainforest and Queulat glacier, horseback rides to remote corners of the ranch as well as bird watching and photo tours.

Internet / Communications
Starlink satellite Wi-Fi is available at the lodge and spotty cell service throughout the ranch, which works with most US carriers. Check with your mobile service provider for coverage areas and special fees. Chilean local carrier at the lodge is “Entel."

How to Get There
Typically, travelers depart from their local home airport and connect with an overnight flight from one of several major US cities (commonly New York, Atlanta, Miami, Dallas, Houston, or Los Angeles) and arrive in Santiago, Chile by mid-morning the following day. Guests will need to clear customs a flight to Coyhaique/Balmaceda (BBA) airport. We suggest a minimum of 3 hours layover in Santiago and to book a flight arriving not earlier than 13:00 to Coyhaique/Balmaceda. Upon arrival at the Balmaceda airport, guests will be met by a member of the Estancia De Los Rios team and be transferred approximately 4.5 hours to the lodge.

Arrival and Departure Details / Times
Estancia del los Rios’ arrival and departure times are based on available flight schedules to/from Balmaceda. There are several daily flights between Santiago and Balmaceda to choose from. Guests should arrange flights arriving in Balmaceda no earlier than 1PM and departing from Balmaceda in the afternoon, no earlier than 2PM .

Typical Travel Itinerary
Friday: Depart your home airport and connect with an overnight flight to Santiago, Chile.

Saturday: Arrive in Santiago, Chile in the morning. Take connecting flight from Santiago to Balmaceda. Upon arrival at the Balmaceda airport, guests will be met by a member of the Estancia De Los Rios team and transfer approximately 4.5 hours to the lodge. Depending on arrival time to the lodge, you will enjoy a half-day fishing in waters closer to the lodge.

Sunday – Friday: Six (6) full days of guided fishing.

Saturday: Depart the lodge and transfer to the Balmaceda airport for your return flight to Santiago and connect with your return overnight flight to the US.

Sunday: Arrive in the US, clear customs, and connect with a flight to your home airport.

Documents Required
Valid passport. Citizens of the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, the UK, and other Western European nations do not need a visa for tourist trips of up to ninety days.

General Information
The fishing program at Estancia de los Rios focuses on wading and floating the 60 miles of rivers, spring creeks, and numerous lakes spread across the private ranch’s 360,000 acres for wild brown trout.  Because the ranch limits its capacity to 12 anglers per week, fish experience limited pressure and anglers can fish miles of this diverse fishery without seeing a soul. The majority of waters are clear, low-gradient, and gravel-bottomed making for easy and inviting wade fishing opportunities.

Most fish are in the 15 to 20-inch range, with many exceeding 23 inches. Fish size and numbers vary depending on the waters fished with some waters that produce numbers, some that produce size, and some that produce both. Guests fish two anglers per guide and employ a variety of fly fishing techniques depending on water and fishing conditions. While anglers can find success on streamers and nymphs, dry fly fishing is the go-to method throughout the season.

Boats and Equipment
The Estancia de los Rios program uses rafts outfitted with fly fishing frames for float trips and 4×4 trucks and horseback to access wade fisheries. Guests should arrive fully prepared with their own fishing gear including waders and boots, rods and reels, leaders, tippet, and flies. The lodge has a selection of rental rod and reel outfits available as well as a small selection of productive flies for sale.

Remember that Yellow Dog’s services are completely free! When you book a trip with Yellow Dog, you never pay more than when you book directly with the lodge or outfitter. TERMS AND CONDITIONS – CANCELLATIONS
A non-refundable deposit of 50% per person is due at the time of booking for all lodging and fishing packages, and final payment if due 90 days prior to arrival. For cancellations, all deposits and payments are non-refundable. In no event will the lodge or Yellow Dog be responsible for any cancellation of services or operations due to inclement weather, any event of force majeure, airline delays, flight cancellations, or any other reason beyond the control of the lodge. The lodge will not refund payments in the event of poor weather, or if arrival flights are cancelled or airline connections are missed. Additionally, the lodge and Yellow Dog are not responsible for covering costs associated with alternative travel arrangements including flights, hotels, meals or any other expenses incurred. For all of these reasons, and because of the no refund and no credit policy, Yellow Dog strongly recommends that anglers and guests purchase travel insurance and full coverage for your trip. If a cancelled package is resold by either the lodge or by Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventures, then a full refund will be issued minus a $100.00 per person fee charged by Yellow Dog. Receipt of deposit and/or final payment is acknowledgment that registrant has read and accepts the deposit, cancellation, refund and responsibility clauses for these packages. Once again, Yellow Dog strongly recommends that anglers and guests purchase travel insurance all Chile packages.

Payment Terms for All Yellow Dog Trip Bookings  
Unless otherwise noted on your invoice, for all trips less than 90 days out, full payment is required after receipt of the confirmation email to secure guides and reservations. For trips outside of 90 days, a 50% deposit is required upon receipt of confirmation email to confirm your reservations.
