TRIP REPORT: DOWN IN THE BAYOU

May 03, 23
LOUISIANA TRIP REPORT

Yellow Dog team members Jake Wells and Bryan Gregson report on a memorable week of great food, music, people, and redfishing down in Louisiana. Despite dreary conditions upon their arrival, they spent the first day taking in the sights, sounds, and tastes of downtown New Orleans and the famous French Quarter.

Everyone who finds themselves wanting to book a redfish trip will be doing themselves an injustice if they do not spend at least a day or two experiencing the culture and hospitably of this great city. The following morning they traded scenes of the city for scenes of shrimping boats, alligators, and the lowcountry landscape of the Louisiana marsh.

The next few days were spent at two different fantastic lodging operations, and on the water with top redfish guides in the Venice and Hopedale areas. And while stunning copper-colored redfish were their target species, they also had opportunities to catch sheepshead, black drum, jacks, and alligator gar.

It is truly a year-round fisherman’s paradise! It has been a few years since Yellow Dog has put their stamp of approval on accommodations and guides in Louisiana that meet their expectations. The wait is now over and we are thrilled to once again help our angling friends plan and book their Louisiana redfish trip!
