General Information
The fishing program at Gaspé Coastal spans three world-class fisheries: Atlantic salmon, striped bass, and sea-run brook trout. Each fishery is approached with flexibility and a daily strategy that puts guests in the best water depending on conditions. Days are long, immersive, and customized to guest interests and weather patterns.
Atlantic Salmon: Guests have access to several well-known rivers in the Gaspé region, including the Grand Cascapedia, Petite Cascapedia, and Bonaventure. Fishing here is classic, traditional, and highly visual, with opportunities for dry fly takes and sight-fishing. Anglers rotate beats and work with experienced guides who are intimately familiar with every pool, seam, and swing lane. Days are typically split into morning and evening sessions to capitalize on the best salmon activity.
Striped Bass: The Chaleur Bay fishery offers exceptional flats-style fishing for striped bass—arguably the most unique striped bass experience in Canada. Guests wade clear, shallow flats and sight-cast to cruising fish in just inches of water, often spotting tails and wakes from long distances. The window for this style of fishing can be brief and tide-dependent, so the program is designed to be opportunistic and flexible. Other days may involve fishing structure and deeper channels with sinking lines for bigger fish.
Sea-Run Brook Trout: The brook trout fishery offers access to remote tributaries and coldwater systems that hold beautiful, native sea-run brookies. These fish are incredibly vibrant and aggressive, often attacking dry flies and streamers with abandon. The brook trout program may involve hiking and exploration, ideal for anglers looking to experience the wild and scenic backcountry of the Gaspé region.
Gaspé Coastal’s guides are highly experienced and passionate about the resource, offering instruction, support, and local insight across all species. The mix-and-match program allows guests to chase different species based on water conditions, fish movement, tides, and weather, ensuring every day is productive and tailored to individual preferences.
