Description

Scott G Series 844

8' 4" 4 weight, four piece fly rod

The 844 G Series fly rod is a fun rod to carry to the spring creeks and small streams that course throughout Southwest Montana. A great rod on small waters that require delicacy and precision in a technical dry fly setting. Spinner falls on the Paradise Spring Creeks just got more fun.

The Scott G Series is an iconic, medium-action fly rod that loads deep into the blank with smooth transitions throughout the casting stroke. The impeccable craftsmanship of every Scott Fly Rod is showcased throughout the G-Series with exquisite attention to detail in the finishes and componentry. Modern technology, combined with a classic feel, results in a fly rod that feels and performs exceptionally well wherever wild trout thrive.

The G-Series was awarded the “Best New Freshwater Fly Rod” by the fly-fishing industry at the 2017 IFTD Show.

Great Dry Fly Rod

This is one of the top performing dry fly rods money can buy outside of (maybe) a Tom Morgan. It casts like butter and can delicately present tiny dries where they need to be. Why the shorter rod? An 8'4" fly rod is generally going to help you with accuracy vs. a 9' rod. Go ahead and try it and I'm sure you'll notice a difference. This goes for saltwater rods too. Another thing I LOVE about this rod is how much it flexes when fighting a big trout on light tippets. I can use side pressure and no just the amount of tension I can put on the fish without the tippet breaking (4-6x). What this rod cannot do is cast foam, heavy nymphs, or even light streamers. It's also not a great big water rod where you're making 60' casts to fish feeding downstream. But then again, that's not what it was designed to do. The Scott G Series is a dry fly rod at heart and it is currently a magic stick if you prefer a slower casting stroke, small dries, and sneaking close up on fish.
