Description

The Loopwing Emerger is a classic transitional pattern that imitates mayflies as they struggle through the final stage of emergence. Sitting low in the film with its buoyant looped wing post above the surface, it perfectly captures the vulnerable moment when trout feed most confidently. The slim abdomen and tail/leg fibers suggest the still-anchored nymph, while the upright loopwing gives anglers just enough visibility to track the fly in tricky light.

Fished in tandem with a dry fly or on its own during a hatch, the Loopwing Emerger is a versatile pattern for mayfly-rich rivers and spring creeks. It’s most effective when trout are ignoring fully emerged duns and instead keying on insects stuck just below the surface.
