The third annual YDCCF McCleans Town Season Opener took place this past October 1-6, 2026 at East End Lodge on Grand Bahama Island. The focus of this Benefit Series event is to raise funds for those who lost their homes in McClean's Town during Hurricane Dorian in 2019.
Over the past few years, we have helped build two new homes and funded numerous other home improvements through the generosity of anglers, donors and East End Lodge. A multi-family duplex is in the planning process this year after a successful October event where just over $70,000 was raised for the McClean's Town Rebuilding Fund.
The flats around Eastern Grand Bahama’s shores and bights were teeming with a variety of species including bonefish, barracuda, mutton snapper, trigger fish, permit and tarpon. Over 240 bonefish were caught and safely released, as well as multiple permit fed and three big ones landed! Three anglers caught over seven different species during the four days of fishing. The guides were spectacular!
We also had three guides in training that fished with Ian and Brooks from Yellow Dog. It's an honor to participate in the efforts made by Cecil Leathen and Rob Neher from East End to train new young guides, they are the future of the fishery and community in McClean's Town. The effort is just one example of how YDCCF Lodge Partners are fully invested in preserving the future of their resource, and we are grateful for Cecil and Rob's foresight.
The fifth annual Andros Island Big Yard Classic is just around the corner February 16-21, 2027 at Swains Cay Lodge. We are excited for another fun event which features like music from Jojo Hermann from the band Widespread Panic, post fishing parties at Shine’s conch stand and of course excellent fishing opportunities in the Middle And South Bights of Andros. This fishery is prime for trophies bones and the guides can position their anglers in optimal tides throughout the days in the leeward inland flats of the bights. Other target species are barracuda, snapper, permit and tarpon. We have a few open spots of single or groups of anglers.
