Beetle Flies
Beetles are a common and often overlooked food source for trout, especially during the warm months when they are active on streamside vegetation. When they fall into the water, their small profile and struggling movement can draw quick, confident takes. Beetle patterns imitate this natural meal, floating low in the surface film and tempting fish that might ignore other offerings. Can't figure out what the trout are rising to? Similar to ants or rusty spinners, beetles make for an excellent 'hatch breaker.'
