RIO Fly Lines

RIO Products was founded in 1990 by Jim and Kitty Vincent in Idaho, inspired by their passion for fly fishing and the belief that better gear could be made by anglers for anglers. The company began by making hand-tied leaders and tippets, soon introducing innovations like the durable Powerflex material in 1993. By 1997, RIO had established its own manufacturing facility in Idaho Falls and started producing fly lines in-house, quickly gaining recognition for features like interchangeable tips, density-compensated sinking lines, welded loops, and advanced tapers. In the early 2000s, RIO launched technologies such as AgentX and Super Floatation to improve buoyancy and line performance. The company was acquired by Far Bank Enterprises in 2005 but continued to operate in Idaho, later adding flies to its catalog in 2019 and introducing advanced coatings like SlickCast in 2020, solidifying its reputation as one of the most innovative leaders in fly line design.

All RIO Products fly lines are proudly designed and manufactured in the United States. Every single line is produced at RIO’s facility located in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

To take care of your RIO fly line, rinse it in fresh water after each use, especially in saltwater, and clean it with mild soap and a soft cloth to remove dirt and grime. For deeper cleaning and conditioning, use RIO’s Wonder Cloth and Agent X solution on floating lines. Storing your line loosely coiled in a cool, dry place will help prevent cracking and extend its life. Regular maintenance ensures your line floats, mends, and performs as designed for many trips to come.
