Description
The Balanced Leech is a cleverly engineered pattern that uses a small pin extending beyond the hook eye to mount a bead, effectively counterbalancing the weight of the hook and materials. This design allows the fly to ride horizontally in the water column, closely mimicking the natural posture and movement of a swimming leech. While technically a streamer, it’s most often fished under an indicator like a nymph, though it can also be jigged near the bottom with great success in lakes and rivers. It’s a deadly pattern for trout, especially in the colder months.
