Description
RIO's Fluoroflex Saltwater Tippet is medium stiff and made from 100% fluorocarbon material. A tough saltwater tippet, the Fluoroflex is abrasion resistant, super strong, and easy to knot. Great for casting the largest of flies and in tough winds, this tippet is perfect for all saltwater species, especially wary bones, snook, permit & tarpon.

The Fluoroflex Saltwater is a medium-stiff fluorocarbon optimized for saltwater applications — it is stiffer than the Fluoroflex Strong (trout) tippet at equivalent diameters, which aids in turning over larger, heavier, and more wind-resistant saltwater flies. The stiffness also provides better abrasion resistance, which is more critical in saltwater environments with coral, sharp rocks, and the rough mouths of inshore species. The saltwater version also extends to 100 lb for heavy shock tippet applications that the freshwater version doesn’t cover.
Can I use the 25–40 lb sizes as shock tippet for tarpon?
Yes — the 25, 30, 35, and 40 lb sizes are all suitable as shock tippet material for tarpon, either on pre-tied leaders or in custom leader builds.
