The Hot Butt Soft Hackle is a classic soft hackle pattern with an added hotspot designed to grab attention in fast water and during active feeding windows. The soft hackle collar pulses naturally in the current, while the bright “hot butt” provides just enough contrast to help fish key in on the fly.
It can imitate emerging insects, drowned adults, or general subsurface forage depending on how it is presented. Like most soft hackles, it excels when swung, dead drifted, or with slow, methodical lifting of the rod.
