Description

The Parawulff is a must-have alternative to the classic Royal Wulff -- a true attractor dry fly if we've ever seen one and one of Our Favorites!

The Parawulff is a modern twist on one of fly fishing’s most time-tested patterns, blending the universal effectiveness of the Adams with the added visibility and floatation of the Wulff style. Designed by fly tier Jack Dennis, this pattern takes the traditional parachute Adams concept and enhances it with a split Wulff-style wing, making it easier to see on the water while maintaining a slim, natural profile that trout find irresistible.

The body is typically tied with gray dubbing or thread to mimic a wide range of mayflies, supported by a parachute hackle for excellent surface floatation. The signature Wulff wing posts—usually white calf hair or synthetic fibers—stand tall and bright, ensuring the fly remains visible in broken water or low light conditions. A tail of mixed brown and grizzly hackle fibers completes the silhouette, keeping the proportions balanced and the presentation realistic.

What makes the Adams Parawulff so effective is its versatility. It can represent mayflies of various species and sizes, making it a reliable searching pattern throughout the season. The added buoyancy from the parachute hackle and Wulff wings also make it an excellent choice for rougher water where standard dry flies can struggle to stay afloat.

From fast pocket water in the Rockies to gentle spring creeks in the East, the Parawulff is a go-to dry fly for anglers who want the proven fish-catching ability of the Adams combined with modern visibility and durability.
