Description

Created by Colorado angler Rim Chung, the RS2 (Rim’s Semblance 2) has long been regarded as one of the most effective emerger patterns for selective trout. Its slim, no-nonsense profile imitates a wide range of mayfly species in the transitional stage between nymph and dun. The sparse body, split tails, and subtle emerging wing suggest vulnerability, while the pattern’s minimalist design keeps it riding naturally in the surface film.

The RS2 can be fished on its own or trailed behind another dry. It shines on technical tailwaters and spring creeks, but is equally effective on freestone rivers whenever trout are keyed in on baetis emergers. The RS2 is one of our Top Blue-Winged Olive patterns because it simply works.

From Umpqua:

"Developed by Rim Chung to trick some of the most selective trout in the West (Dream Stream, South Platte, Colorado), this fly is justifiably notorious. No tailwater fly selection should be without it! The name evolved from Rim’s first version, the RS-1 and RS stands for Rim’s Semblance, which imitates an emerging baetis beautifully. It is so simple and effective no tailwater guide risks being without a version of this iconic fly."
